Guide on How to Make Your Laptop Battery Lasts Longer

Laptop batteries are made of Lithium-Ion, which loses its capacity as it gets older. Usually a laptop loses around 10% battery capacity yearly. You can explore several options to make the battery lasts longer without the need of purchasing the new one.  Below given these options:

Configure settings: However most laptops are configured in order to conserve power. Even then you should check the settings whether they are optimal or if they have not been altered.  Ensure that screen savers are used and laptop when not used is at rest.  Make sure that the Power Options in Control Panel is set which would preserve the battery. You can also adjust the BIOS settings and lower voltage settings for the memory and processor.

Keep screen brightness to minimal: The screen of the Laptop have a back light which requires more power as brightness is increased. The laptop display is one of the biggest consumers of battery power. You can reduce brightness to the minimum as long as the eyes are comfortable with.

More memory should be added: Whenever the hard drive runs out of memory the Windows operating system uses a swap file. Most of the hard drives which spin inside need more power than memory modules which have no moving parts. If more memory is added then the swap file is lesser used. It would also improve the performance of the system.

Use Efficient processor: The CPU is the spirit of the computer and it is responsible for major power consumption. Newer processors are more efficiently comparatively. The power consumption would be reduced.

Use a flash based hard drive: Traditional hard drives depend on internal discs which constantly rotate to store as well as recover data. Modern hard drives use flash memory which does not have any moving parts. It requires more power to work. However now the ones that are available in the market are quicker and improve system performance.

Get rid of unused software: Delete all unused applications as it is a great load on the computer.

Keep your laptop cool: Keep it as cool as possible as overheating  can cause it to fail. They have Laptops that usually come with an internal fan. It starts spinning when the system gets hot. Avoid using it in a humid environment.
